Folk On the Water 2.0 – Living Aboard!Following their successful "Great Loop 2019" journey aboard Stinkpot, Dave and Stacey took the latter half of 2020 and most of 2021 to recover from a year aboard and figure out pandemic life on land. Dave took up bread baking like half of the country and realized by January 2021 that, while delicious, even his best sour dough makes for much more Dave than there should be. His starter went on hiatus in the fridge until a special occasion—the last meal before moving aboard the boat permanently.
You read that right. Dave and Stacey sold the house in Portland, Maine, and moved aboard the boat to begin living a more nomadic lifestyle. As of this writing, Stinkpot has dropped lines and is currently heading south to warmer waters for winter. This will become a tradition our salty duo of intrepid nomadic mariners will undertake periodically with the hope of spending winter in southern waters and summers in northern(ish) waters, perhaps even doing the Great Loop again at some point—though they very well may spend the summer of 2023 in Florida. If you have ideas for places Dave might play along the Atlantic Intra-Coastal Waterway (AICW), let us know by using the form on this page. Contribute to the JourneyA lot of people have been asking Dave and Stacey how they can financially help with their new nomadic lifestyle. It's true that it's an expensive undertaking. Well, after much discussion, soul searching, and acts of well-meaning coercion from a few very nice folks, they have a Patreon page. Of course, if you'd rather go "old school," here are a few other options:
If you'd like to help but you prefer to get something for your hard-earned money, consider visiting the Stinkpot Store at TeeSpring.com. Organizations that Help…These are businesses that have, through their expertise, made important tangible contributions to making Dave and Stacey's nomadic lifestyle possible and even easy. They are all great folks who deserve recognition for their generosity and also your patronage.
The Journey will be streamed online!Dave has once again teamed up with the folk music streaming service FolkMusicNotebook, to create an online "radio show" to provide weekly (more or less) updates of his journeys in his own words and voice. "Folk on the Water" is a virtual logbook, providing as it's happening re-tellings of Dave and Stacey's life on the water while sharing new and old songs with you through the magic of the internet. Tune in on your computer, smart phone (with free app), or install the Alexa skill to hear all about it and enjoy some excellent music while you're there!
