New Single Released, April 2021
Folk music tells our stories, and this spring, Dave Rowe has released a single, "A Toast to John Prine" to be played on folk radio stations worldwide as we all remember Prine's loss to Covid-19 a year ago. Dave's song is not just an homage in words but in music that truly honors the legacy of this great man and American icon.
If you hear Dave's song, please let us know what station and in what area of the world you heard it.
Dave is doing what he can to (A) not get sick, and (B) make a living during this pandemic. To that end, he's suspended his entire performing schedule since it all began, except for two or three outdoor or adequately socially distanced shows, and has done countless online broadcasts. Because Dave has been sidelined from performing, he has taken a job as a remote, online music leader at a UU church in Iowa and has been mostly depending on tips via Patreon, PayPal, Venmo (@daverowemusic), and Virtual Ticket sales on this website from fans and friends to help keep the wolves away. All of this is to say, he is not currently working on finishing his upcoming CD, promised for fall of 2020. He plans to get back into the studio as soon as life more or less returns to normal and he has the time to concentrate on such things. It's coming…we promise…. Wash your hands, wear your mask, listen to good music, and get vaccinated as soon as you can. See you all at a show soon!
"Dave's voice is straight out of movie, or off a 50-year-old record, pure and always on key." -Sam Pfeifle, Portland Phoenix
Captain Dave Rowe? What's this?
If you've been following along for the last year or so, you know that Dave Rowe is not just a folksinger and not just a songwriter—he's the captain of the good ship, Stinkpot!
Dave and his first mate, Stacey, have been cruising America's Great Loop and beyond, making new music and meeting new friends along the way.
The many Adventures of Stinkpot are being preserved in song, story, video, and soon will be finding their way onto stages from Sweden to China and Denmark to Mexico—and that's just in Maine! Dave's also going to return to regular touring (in a car) upon completion of the loop in the spring of 2020.
