Folk On the Water 2019-2020: The Great Loop!
For the next year or so, Dave along with first-mate, Stacey, is embarking on a circumnavigation of the eastern United States on M/V Stinkpot, his 1987 Bayliner 38' motor yacht. This 6,000 (or so) mile journey by water will take them through 17 states and part of Canada. You can follow their progress on NEBO.
If you live along or near the loop and would like to help Dave fill his gig calendar with coffee houses, concert halls, house concerts, pub gigs, or any other suitable stage for Dave, please help out by filling out the form below to let he and his excellent and talented booker/friend, Mira Shapiro, know about these venues.
If you want to help Dave and Stacey afford to go, you can proudly wear their tee-shirts or drink from their coffee mugs, all of which is available in the Stinkpot Store.
So where will this trip take the good-ship Stinkpot? Here's a short list of places they could go if gigs were nearby. If you'd like to see a map, there's a great one here.
Contribute to the Journey
A lot of people have been asking Dave and Stacey how they can financially help with their Great Loop journey. It's true that it's an expensive undertaking, and they've had a number of setbacks as they've addressed needed, costly repairs to Stinkpot. Well, after much discussion, soul searching, and acts of well-meaning coercion from a few very nice folks, they have a Patreon page. Of course, if you'd rather go "old school," here are a few other options:
Of course, if you'd like to help but you like to get something for your hard-earned money, consider visiting the Stinkpot Store at TeeSpring.com or buying CDs from this very website.
Organizations that Help…
These are businesses that have, through their expertise, made important tangible contributions to making the Loop a reality for Dave and Stacey. They are great folk who deserve recognition.
The Journey will be streamed online!
Dave has teamed up with the brand new folk music streaming service FolkMusicNotebook to provide weekly (more or less) updates in his own words and voice. He and host, Ron Olesko, will chat about the journey we are now calling "Folk on the Water" as it's happening—play a song here or there, and generally have a good time in front of microphones through the magic of the internet. Tune in on your computer, smart phone (with free app), or install the Alexa skill to hear all about it and enjoy some excellent music while you're there!
